Gujarat MLAs to join tree plantation drive as Assembly session begins

The ninth session of the 15th Gujarat Legislative Assembly commenced on September 9 in Gandhinagar. To mark the opening of the three-day session, all 182 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and members of the Council of Ministers will participate in a tree plantation drive at the Sachivalaya premises.

The initiative is part of the third phase of the nationwide ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, a movement launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote environmental conservation. The plantation event will take place near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi following the inauguration of the ‘BHISHM Cube’, an advanced disaster management facility.

The legislative session is scheduled to run from September 9 to September 11. The Business Advisory Committee has outlined several bills for consideration, including the Gujarat Agricultural Universities Amendment Bill, 2026, the Natural Farming Science University Amendment Bill, 2026, and the Gujarat Rent Bill, 2026.
