Gujarat national parks and sanctuaries to reopen October 9
The Gujarat Forest Department has announced that all sanctuaries and national parks in the state will reopen to tourists starting October 9, 2026. The decision follows the conclusion of the monsoon season and improved road conditions, facilitating easier access for visitors.
Timed to coincide with the upcoming Navratri and Diwali festivals, the reopening is expected to boost local employment. To protect wildlife, the Forest Department will implement strict guidelines and regulate tourist activities to prevent animal disturbance.
This move follows a trend in other Indian states, where several major reserves in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra reopened to the public on October 1, 2026.
