Gujarat officials intensify dengue measures in Gandhinagar

Gujarat Health Minister Praful Pansheriya has ordered intensified anti-dengue measures in Gandhinagar following reports of dengue cases among personnel arriving for the National Unity Day parade. The affected individuals, members of the BSF, CRPF, and ITBP, are staying in temporary government housing in Sectors 28 and 29.

Health officials identified water accumulation at the newly constructed housing as a cause for increased mosquito activity. On October 2, Gandhinagar Civil Hospital reported that 24 personnel tested positive for dengue over a two-day period, with others under observation for fever and body aches. All affected patients are reported to be stable.

In response, the minister directed officials to implement intensive fogging, medicine spraying, and fever surveillance on a war footing. Specific instructions include deploying four health workers to every block of the personnel's accommodation and conducting rigorous checks to prevent stagnant water.
