Gujarat Police Dismantle Interstate Fake Ayurvedic Medicine Extortion Ring
On July 10, 2026, Gujarat Police’s Cyber Centre of Excellence carried out coordinated raids on a 15‑seat call centre in Ahmedabad’s Vastral area and a second location in Bidhuna, Uttar Pradesh. Seven suspects were arrested, including alleged mastermind Dhirendra Rajawat and manager Priya Kurmi.
Investigators say the group ran a nationwide online fraud scheme selling fake Ayurvedic sexual‑enhancement medicines through Facebook and Instagram ads. After customers paid cash‑on‑delivery, callers impersonated police officers, doctors or government officials, claiming the products were prohibited and threatening fabricated FIRs unless victims paid settlement sums of ₹2,000‑₹1 lakh.
Authorities estimate 4,000‑5,000 people were duped, with suspicious bank transactions exceeding ₹5 crore across 14 accounts. Seized evidence included 44 mobile phones, 23 computer CPUs, laptops, caller‑ID phones, bank passbooks, two boxes of the counterfeit medicines and rubber stamps bearing various Ayurvedic brand names.
