Gujarat Police fold traffic complaint helpline into 112 emergency number
From August 1 2026, the Gujarat Police will route all telephone traffic‑related complaints through the national emergency helpline 112, replacing the previous toll‑free number 1800 233 1122. The change is part of the Government of India’s Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) aimed at consolidating emergency services under a single platform.
All existing online and app‑based channels for filing traffic complaints will remain unchanged. The State Traffic Branch urged citizens to use 112 for any traffic issues, including assistance during heavy rain‑related disruptions such as water‑logging or fallen trees, as forecast by the India Meteorological Department.
The integration seeks to simplify reporting for residents, provide faster response times, and ensure smoother traffic management across the state.
