Gujarat Police hold drug awareness campaigns on Gandhi Jayanti
To mark the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Gujarat Police launched 'Drug-Free Society' campaigns in Ahmedabad and Vadodara. In Vadodara, Police Commissioner Narsinhkumar Komar led a walkathon involving students, social organizations, and NGOs to promote messages such as ‘Say No to Drugs’ and ‘Say No to Tobacco’. The initiative aimed to encourage societal cooperation in combating addiction.
In Ahmedabad, police officials also conducted awareness programs, urging citizens to overcome addiction and emphasizing the city police's readiness to assist. The Gujarat Police utilized social media to promote Gandhi's values of truth, non-violence, and discipline for building a responsible society.
Separately, historical commemorations in Ahmedabad highlighted the close relationship between Mahatma Gandhi and his associate, Abdul Kadir Bawazir, also known as Imam Bawazir. Their bond is cited as a significant example of communal harmony. Bawazir, who supported Gandhi during the Dandi March and the Dharasana Satyagraha, was considered a brother by Gandhi. Historical accounts note that Gandhi even included his own name on the wedding invitations for Bawazir's daughters, underscoring their deep personal and spiritual connection.
