Gujarat Police launches ‘Surakshit Shakti’ safety drive

Gujarat Police has initiated a 28-day statewide campaign titled ‘Surakshit Shakti’ aimed at enhancing the safety of women and girls. The initiative focuses on preventive policing, digital safety awareness, victim support, and community involvement.

Under the supervision of Director General of Police G. S. Malik and led by K. L. N. Rao, the drive incorporates evidence-based policing. This includes using measurable key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the effectiveness of police units. Measures such as increased patrolling in vulnerable areas and the use of body-worn cameras are being encouraged to improve accountability.

A significant portion of the campaign is dedicated to digital safety. Police aim to educate women and girls about various online threats, including cyberbullying, online grooming, sextortion, deepfakes, OTP fraud, and QR-code scams.
