Gujarat Police raid journalist Ravi Nair’s residences over Adani-LIC posts
Gujarat Police conducted simultaneous raids at journalist Ravi Nair’s residences in Kerala and Delhi on Monday. During the searches, police seized mobile phones from Nair in Kerala, as well as a laptop belonging to his son and an iPad belonging to a colleague at his Delhi residence.
The investigation stems from an FIR filed by an employee of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) alleging that Nair posted false and fabricated information on social media. The posts concerned a Washington Post investigation co-reported by Nair, which alleged that government officials had proposed directing approximately $3.9 billion from the state-owned Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) toward Adani Group businesses.
While the LIC has rejected the allegations, describing them as “false, baseless and far from truth,” the Gujarat High Court recently refused to quash the FIR, ruling that the authenticity of the documents involved must be determined through investigation. The FIR includes charges related to cheating, forgery, and the use of forged digital files to harm reputations.
