Ahmedabad police seize ambergris worth ₹1.05 crore; three arrested

The Ahmedabad City Crime Branch in Gujarat has arrested three individuals and seized 1.051 kilograms of ambergris, a substance derived from sperm whales, valued at approximately ₹1.05 crore.

The seizure occurred in the Naroda area following a tip-off regarding the illegal transport and intended sale of the whale byproduct. The arrested individuals have been identified as Maheshbhai Rathod, 46; Kiran, also known as Bhrubhai Bharwad, 25; and Karan Dininath God, 27.

This enforcement action was conducted as part of ‘Operation Thunder-2026’, a global initiative designed to combat wildlife and forest-related crimes and the illegal trade of flora and fauna. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances regarding the possession and distribution network of the seized material.
