Gujarat police seize liquor and marijuana shipments worth over Rs 5 crore

The Gujarat State Monitoring Cell seized Indian‑made foreign liquor valued at Rs 78 lakh during a raid in Vadodara, recovering 500 cartons containing 22,116 bottles and arresting five individuals, including a truck cleaner from Haryana and a driver, as part of an alleged interstate smuggling network. The operation was directed by DGP G. S. Malik and follows earlier large‑scale liquor seizures in the state.

Customs officials at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad intercepted 5.368 kg of hydroponic marijuana from a passenger arriving from Bangkok on Thai Airways flight TG‑343. The contraband, valued at over Rs 5 crore, led to the arrest of a resident of Ratangarh, Rajasthan. The seizure builds on recent interceptions on the Bangkok‑Ahmedabad route that have uncovered additional cannabis shipments worth several crores.
