Gujarat prisons host Raksha Bandhan celebrations for inmates
During the festival of Raksha Bandhan, women in various prisons across Gujarat, India, visited to tie rakhis on their brothers' wrists.
At Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad, prison administration made arrangements to allow families to meet, providing emotional support to the inmates. In Rajkot Central Jail, approximately 1,200 sisters participated in the ceremony, with security protocols requiring Aadhaar cards for entry and prohibiting outside items.
In Jamnagar District Jail, over 500 sisters attended the event. The prison administration provided traditional items such as kumkum, rice, and lamps for the ritual, allowing sisters to celebrate the occasion with their brothers through traditional ceremonies and sweets.
