Gujarat government boosts assistance for levelling rural housing plots

The Gujarat state government has markedly increased financial assistance for levelling free residential plots allotted to rural homeless families. The per‑plot subsidy has risen fivefold from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000, while support for levelling uneven land has risen fourfold from ₹50,000 per hectare to ₹200,000 per hectare.

The enhancement, approved by the Panchayat, Rural Housing and Rural Development Department on July 17 under Minister Rushikesh Patel and Minister of State Sanjaysinh Mahida, is intended to lower land‑preparation costs and speed up construction of permanent homes. It aligns with the central “Housing for All” initiative and builds on an existing scheme that provides each beneficiary with a 100‑square‑yard free plot.

Officials said the measure will help rural families prepare their plots more quickly, facilitating planned village‑wide residential development and improving access to housing for eligible households.
