Gujarat signs MoU to empower women dairy entrepreneurs

The Gujarat government has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Rajkot to economically empower rural women through the dairy sector. The agreement was signed by the Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company Limited (GLPC), the Cooperation Department, and the Animal Husbandry Department in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

The initiative aims to integrate women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission with the state’s dairy cooperative network and technical services. This approach is designed to transform village-level milk producers into organized, self-reliant dairy entrepreneurs and producer enterprises.

Under the agreement, participants will receive financial support including bank linkages, institutional credit, and loans for livestock and equipment. The Animal Husbandry Department will also provide technical services such as balanced animal feed, vaccinations, deworming, artificial insemination, and breed improvement to support livestock healthcare and livelihood planning.
