Gujarat to honor 93 farmers with Best ATMA awards
The Gujarat government will host a ceremony in Gandhinagar on October 3 to present the ‘Best ATMA Farmer Awards’ to 93 progressive farmers. The awards recognize achievements in natural farming, horticulture, animal husbandry, and value-added agricultural products. Of the recipients, 10 will receive state-level honors and 83 will receive district-level awards.
The event, chaired by Governor Acharya Devvrat and attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, will also include the inauguration of approximately 100 sales centres for natural farming produce across the state. These centres aim to bridge the gap between farmers and consumers by providing dedicated platforms for selling natural products.
Additionally, the Directorate of Agriculture will sign a memorandum of understanding with the Space Applications Centre (SAC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). This partnership intends to integrate satellite and geospatial technology into agriculture to provide farmers with advisories on sowing, harvesting, crop estimation, and damage assessment.
