Gulab Devi criticizes Akhilesh Yadav over women's safety claims
Uttar Pradesh Minister Gulab Devi has criticized Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav regarding his recent claims on women's safety, equality, and welfare. Devi dismissed Yadav's press conference as ‘ridiculous’ and challenged his record, alleging that during the Samajwadi Party's previous rule, women and female students faced significant safety concerns and harassment near schools.
Devi defended the current Yogi Adityanath administration, stating that law and order have improved, allowing women to travel more freely and safely at night. She highlighted various government schemes aimed at the economic and social empowerment of women, such as self-help groups.
Addressing specific campaign promises, Devi characterized the Samajwadi Party's pledge to provide 40,000 rupees annually to women as a ‘colorful dream’ disconnected from reality. She also noted that the BJP government has already implemented benefits like free bus travel for women over the age of 60.
