Gulbenkian Museum Reopens in Lisbon; Brazil Unveils Torres García Exhibition

The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon reopened after a major renovation that restored original design concepts, added a transparent wood-and‑metal screen and reinstated historic flooring, while emphasizing its extensive European and Asian collections. Director Xavier F. Salomon said the museum now focuses on presenting its “great works” and invites repeat visits.

In Belo Horizonte, the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil opened the travelling exhibition “Joaquín Torres García: 150 years” on 15 July. Curated by Saulo di Tarso, the show brings together around 400 paintings, drawings, objects and documents, plus works by about a hundred contemporary artists, marking the largest showcase of the Uruguayan pioneer’s legacy in Brazil.
