Gulf Coast LNG exporters Coastal Bend and Argent move forward with federal permits

Coastal Bend LNG announced the start of its formal permitting process with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), planning to file a formal application in early 2027. The project will feature four liquefaction trains totaling 19.2 million tonnes per annum and includes integrated carbon‑capture facilities. CEO Nick Flores said the milestone reflects “disciplined engineering, commercial, and regulatory execution.”

Argent LNG submitted a waterway suitability assessment to the U.S. Coast Guard for its proposed 25 million‑tonne‑per‑year export terminal at Port Fourchon, Louisiana. The assessment evaluates navigation safety for large LNG carriers and marks the third major federal agency engagement after FERC and the Department of Energy. Chairman and CEO Jonathan Bass highlighted that each agency submission “de‑risks” the project and moves it toward a final investment decision.
