Gulf nations express rising dissatisfaction with Trump administration

Dissatisfaction with the Donald Trump administration is reaching record levels among Gulf nations, according to reports citing Arab and Western officials. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain are reportedly sharing concerns regarding the administration's ability to manage the diplomatic path necessary to end hostilities with Iran and ensure regional stability.

Gulf officials have expressed frustration over a perceived lack of a clear U.S. strategy and inconsistent positions, particularly following threats of military strikes against Iran followed by sudden retreats. One Gulf official stated, “Trump started this war, and we are the ones paying the price.”

As a result of these tensions, some regional nations are discussing the feasibility of continuing to host large U.S. military bases. In an effort to diversify security partnerships, Saudi Arabia recently signed a mutual defense agreement with Turkey and Pakistan, a move seen by analysts as a signal of the desire to reduce sole reliance on Washington.
