Gulf oil flows reach 15 million barrels per day, says U.S. Energy Secretary

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright announced that oil flows from the Persian Gulf have recovered to approximately 15 million barrels per day. This recovery follows disruptions caused by conflict with Iran.

According to Wright, the seven-day average for oil exiting through the Strait of Hormuz has reached nearly 9 million barrels per day. An additional 5 million to 7 million barrels per day are being transported via newly upgraded pipelines and export facilities that bypass the strategic waterway. Wright noted that on a single Sunday, more than 20 million barrels left the Arabian Gulf region, a figure he stated was above pre-conflict averages.

The increase in volume is attributed to coordinated efforts between the U.S. military and Gulf allies to stabilize exports. While the Strait of Hormuz remains a critical and sensitive route for global energy supplies, the use of alternative pipelines is helping to mitigate the impact of regional tensions.
