Gulftainer invests in Thailand’s Suksawat Terminal

UAE-based trade infrastructure company Gulftainer has signed a binding agreement to make a strategic investment in the Suksawat Terminal in Thailand. Located in Samut Prakan on the Chao Phraya River, south of Bangkok, the terminal serves importers and exporters throughout the Greater Bangkok area and maintains direct barge connectivity to Laem Chabang, Thailand’s primary deep-sea port.

Gulftainer intends to invest in the terminal’s capacity, productivity, and service offerings to strengthen its position within Thailand’s manufacturing and distribution networks. The company aims to create an integrated trade and logistics platform by combining port operations, inland transport, and maritime connectivity through its various divisions, including GT Ports, GT Logistics, GT Parks, and GT Lines.

Group CEO Farid Belbouab stated that Thailand represents a significant milestone for the company’s international growth, providing an established platform in a major Southeast Asian manufacturing and export market. The investment is part of a broader strategy to link Asia with the Middle East, Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent.
