Gulveer Singh wins three medals at 2026 Asian Games

Indian distance runner Gulveer Singh achieved a historic three-medal haul at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Singh secured silver medals in both the men’s 1500m and 10,000m events, followed by a bronze medal in the 5000m.

In the 1500m, Singh clocked a personal best of 3:36.72, finishing second behind Japan’s Kazuto Iizawa. He previously earned silver in the 10,000m with a time of 28:29.38. His final medal of the Games came in the 5000m, where he finished third with a time of 13:32.75.

With this performance, Singh became only the second Indian man to win three track and field medals at a single Asian Games, joining Lavy Pinto, who achieved the feat in 1951. Despite the achievement, Singh expressed a desire for gold and the opportunity to hear the Indian national anthem on the podium, stating he intends to work harder for future competitions.
