Gun attacks in Culiacán kill one and wound two

On May 15, 2026 a man in his late teens was shot dead in the Infonavit Solidaridad neighborhood of Culiacán, Sinaloa, after stepping out of a vehicle. Witnesses said armed assailants opened fire on the victim, who was found with a pink plush toy and a cell phone. The Mexican army and Red Cross personnel arrived, but the man was already deceased.

The previous day, May 14, two adult men were injured in a separate shooting at an abandoned building in the Jorge Almada neighborhood. One of the victims, a 45‑year‑old, was seriously wounded. A gunman fired repeatedly, then fled using a makeshift wooden ladder. Elements of the National Defense Secretariat, firefighters, and prosecutors responded, securing shell casings as evidence. Both incidents are under investigation by Sinaloa state authorities.
