Fuerte Apache: Two dead and four wounded in drug gang shootout
A violent armed confrontation between rival drug gangs in the Fuerte Apache housing complex in Ciudadela, Tres de Febrero, left two people dead and at least four others wounded. The incident occurred during the early hours of Saturday near the residential complex's community water tank.
Authorities identified the deceased as 17-year-old Tiziano Gauna and 36-year-old R. Quispe. Witnesses reported that armed individuals in a vehicle opened fire on a group of people before fleeing the scene. The shooting involved at least 50 shots, reportedly from high-caliber automatic weapons.
The wounded include a 20-year-old, a 17-year-old, and an 18-year-old woman, all of whom were treated at the Hospital Dr. Ramón Carrillo. Investigators are pursuing a hypothesis that the violence was a territorial dispute for control of drug sales between two factions known as 'Villa Matienzo' and 'Los Fiolos.'
Local residents captured much of the chaos on video, showing armed men exchanging fire and others attempting to transport the wounded under heavy gunfire. The case is being handled by the UFI No. 2 of the San Martín Judicial Department.
