Gunfire attacks terrorize families at Culiacán party and football field

Armed men drove a vehicle into a gated home in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood of Culiacán, Sinaloa, crashing the gate repeatedly before firing on the house and setting part of it ablaze while a children's party was underway. Residents were rescued from the rear of the dwelling and, although no physical injuries were reported, many children experienced severe fright. Police, rescue units and firefighters responded to secure the scene and investigate.

Later, gunfire erupted near a football field in the Plutarco Elías Calles neighborhood of Culiacán. Video shared on social media captured a mother shouting, “¡Tírate, amor!” as she urged her child to dive to the ground while multiple shots rang out. Families and minors fled to the floor for safety. Authorities have not confirmed casualties or motives for either incident.

Both episodes underscore the ongoing insecurity in Sinaloa, where high homicide and crime rates have drawn criticism of state officials, including Governor Rubén Rocha Moya, for failing to curb organized‑crime violence.
