Latina: 30-year-old man killed in fatal shooting ambush

A 30-year-old man of Gambian origin was killed in a fatal shooting in Latina on the evening of Wednesday, September 16. The victim was walking on Viale XXIV Maggio, near the city center and the university, when he was targeted by gunfire from a small dark vehicle.

Despite being rushed to the Santa Maria Goretti hospital in critical condition, the victim died shortly after arrival. Police and forensic specialists are currently investigating the scene to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive. The Prosecutor's Office has opened a homicide investigation.

In response to the incident, Senator Nicola Calandrini of Fratelli d’Italia has called on the government to increase security resources in the Latina province. He specifically proposed raising the status of the local Questura to provide investigators with larger staff numbers to better protect the strategic territory.
