Gunma Prefecture to install Pokemon “Pokefuta” manhole covers

Gunma Prefecture has announced the donation and installation of five Pokemon-themed manhole covers, known as “Pokefuta,” across five municipalities within the prefecture. The initiative, supported by The Pokemon Company, aims to promote local charm and attract both domestic and international visitors through unique, location-specific designs.

The covers will be installed in Numata City, Tatebayashi City, Shibukawa City, Shimonita Town, and Naganohara Town. During a recent unveiling ceremony at the Gunma Prefectural Office, Governor Ichita Yamamoto appeared alongside Pikachu to showcase the designs.

To support the initiative, the prefecture has released promotional videos on its official YouTube channel and produced sightseeing maps. These maps, which include access information and details on nearby attractions, will be distributed at roadside stations, municipal offices, and Gunma's representative offices in Tokyo and Osaka.
