Gunma woman arrested for fatal assault on husband's brother

Police in Shibukawa, Gunma Prefecture arrested 41‑year‑old Rieko Mochizuki on suspicion of killing her husband’s brother, 44‑year‑old Bokuo Mochizuki. The incident occurred in February of the previous year at the family home, where the victim was repeatedly kicked in the chest and abdomen, leading to his death. Investigators said Rieko Mochizuki claimed she was dissatisfied with the victim’s lifestyle and admitted the assault. Multiple bruises on the body suggest the violence may have been ongoing. At the time of the attack, the husband was away from the house.

The case is being treated as a homicide with possible repeated assault, and the suspect remains in custody pending further investigation.
