Gunmen attack Finima Community monarch’s palace in Rivers State

Gunmen launched a violent attack on the palace of the Amadabo of Finima, HRH Dagogo Brown, in the Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State. The incident occurred during a cultural festival and reportedly stemmed from disputes regarding cultural rites, masquerade displays, and traditional family rights.

During the attack, gunmen opened fire on the palace and destroyed property. While no fatalities were reported, several residents sustained injuries from gunshot wounds and machete cuts.

The Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into the violence. Police spokesperson ASP Blessing Agabe confirmed that one gang member has been arrested and is providing information to assist in the ongoing efforts to apprehend other suspects. Normalcy has reportedly been restored to the community following the deployment of police operatives.
