Gunnar Henderson calls Orioles' season a failure
Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson described the team's recent season as a “failed year” after the club failed to reach the postseason. Henderson noted that the team's inability to return to the playoffs would remain on his mind as he prepares for the offseason.
Reflecting on the team's performance, Henderson suggested that a lack of experience and mental readiness in high-pressure moments may have contributed to their struggles. He emphasized the importance of managing the “little things” early in the season to better handle close games.
Henderson also revealed that he dealt with a right wrist injury for approximately half of the season. While the injury coincided with a decline in his offensive production compared to previous years, Henderson stated he does not believe the wrist was the primary cause of his downturn. He attributed the struggle to “trying to force stuff to happen” at the plate. He clarified that the injury will not require surgery during the offseason.
