Gunung Ciremai forest fires extinguished after affecting 40 hectares

Forest and land fires in the Gunung Ciremai National Park (TNGC) in West Java have been extinguished, though emergency teams remain on-site to conduct cooling operations. As of Wednesday night, September 9, no active fire spots were detected in the area.

Preliminary data suggests approximately 40 hectares of land were affected. The fire initially broke out in the Cileutik Block before spreading to the Manguntapa and Simaung Blocks within the Singkup Village area of Kuningan Regency.

Emergency responders faced significant challenges, including steep, rocky terrain that hindered the movement of personnel and equipment. Difficult weather conditions, characterized by shifting wind directions, limited water sources at high altitudes, and dry vegetation due to a prolonged dry season, also complicated containment efforts. To prevent reignition, joint teams are continuing to monitor the site and implement firebreaks.
