Gunungkidul ramps up job program and aims for top SAKIP rating in 2026

The Gunungkidul regency in Yogyakarta announced a 2026 public‑works (padat karya) program to absorb 1,976 local workers across 65 sites, with a total budget of Rp7.5 billion. Each site will receive Rp100‑200 million, focusing on simple infrastructure built by community self‑help groups. The initiative, overseen by Emy Nur Aini, head of the regency’s labour department, targets around 30 workers per location and aims to boost incomes in villages such as Panggang, Paliyan and Wonosari.

In parallel, Regent Endah Subekti Kuntariningsih set a higher target for the regency’s System of Accountability for Government Performance (SAKIP) rating, seeking to move from a BB grade to an A grade in the 2026 assessment. The current score of 78.78, reported by evaluator Anesia Ribka of the Ministry of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN RB), falls short of the 80‑point threshold needed for an A rating. The regency aims to improve governance, transparency and service delivery to address poverty, stunting, clean‑water access and economic growth, with the reforms intended to have tangible benefits for residents.
