Gunungkidul village elections see 11 incumbents lose seats

In the simultaneous village head elections (Pilur) held in Gunungkidul on Saturday, September 26, 2026, eleven incumbent village heads failed to retain their positions.

The local government reported that 91 candidates competed for leadership roles across 31 villages. Of these, 23 were incumbents seeking reelection. Kriswantoro, Head of the Village Administration and Government Apparatus Division at the Gunungkidul DPMKP2KB, stated that the voting process proceeded smoothly and results were finalized through plenary sessions by local committees.

The defeated incumbents include the village heads of Ngoro-oro, Mulusan, Kelor, Kepek, Jetis, Kanigoro, Girisuko, Watugajah, Bandung, Kalitekuk, and Hargosari. Several other incumbents successfully defended their seats in various villages across the Ngawen, Ponjong, Wonosari, Playen, Patuk, Nglipar, Saptosari, Gedangsari, and Purwosari districts.
