Gunungkidul village officials must resign to run in 2026 elections

In Gunungkidul, six village officials (pamong kalurahan) are required to resign from their current positions if they are officially designated as candidates in the 2026 Village Head Election (Pilur).

A total of 99 prospective candidates have registered to compete across 31 villages. The group of candidates includes incumbents, civil servants (ASN), and the aforementioned village officials from Siraman, Kalitekuk, Jurangjero, Girisuko, Terbah, and Watugajah.

Kriswantoro, Head of Administrative and Government Apparatus Development at DPMKP2KB Gunungkidul, stated that while officials do not need to resign upon registration, they must submit a formal resignation letter if they pass the selection process. The official designation of candidates is scheduled for September 8, 2026, with the election set to take place on September 26, 2026.
