Gunzenhausen provides yellow ribbons for free fruit harvesting

The city of Gunzenhausen is once again providing yellow jute ribbons to facilitate free fruit harvesting for the public. Property owners who cannot harvest their own fruit or have a surplus can attach these ribbons to trees to signal that the community may harvest the fruit for personal use.

Eligible trees include those bearing table fruit as well as those suitable for juice production. The initiative covers various local varieties such as apples, pears, and mirabelles. Harvesting is permitted by hand, through gentle shaking, or using fruit pickers, and includes fallen fruit.

Participants are instructed to harvest only from marked trees and must ensure no damage is done to the trees, such as breaking branches. Harvesters must respect property boundaries, avoid blocking driveways, and are prohibited from climbing trees. The harvest is conducted at the individual's own risk.
