Guojun Xuan and Silvia Zhang arrested in California child abuse case

Guojun Xuan and Silvia Zhang have been arrested and charged in connection with a massive child abuse investigation at their Arcadia, California, mansion. Authorities allege the couple operated a surrogacy agency, Mark Surrogacy Investment LLC, and used it to acquire at least 21 children, most of whom were born via surrogates.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman described the residence as a ‘house of horrors.’ Prosecutors claim the couple subjected children, some as young as two months old, to severe physical and verbal abuse. Surveillance footage from over 30 cameras reportedly captured nannies hitting children with sticks, shoes, and hands. In one instance, a nanny allegedly struck an infant, causing a brain bleed and head injury; authorities claim the parents waited two days to seek medical help.

The couple is accused of conspiracy to commit child abuse, complicity, and witness intimidation. They also allegedly misled surrogate mothers by providing false information regarding Zhang’s ability to conceive and the couple’s existing family size. The investigation, which involves both state and federal authorities, follows a medical emergency involving an infant that prompted police intervention.
