Guro-gu launches AI-based book recommendation service ‘ATHENA’

Guro-gu is launching a three-month pilot program for ‘ATHENA’, a generative AI-based book recommendation service, at the Guro Munuri Library from August 10 to October 10. Developed in collaboration with Ubidus System, the service aims to provide personalized reading experiences by analyzing user interests and reading status.

The service operates in two modes. ‘ATHENA Public’ is a physical device located on the third floor of the library where users can scan books to receive summaries, mood hashtags, and related reading suggestions. ‘ATHENA Personal’ is a mobile-based service that allows users to converse with an AI librarian via smartphone to receive tailored recommendations based on their preferred writing styles and concentration levels.

To ensure reliability and prevent information distortion, the system is designed to provide answers based on verified book data. The pilot program is free for all users, and the collected data will be used to establish a foundation for implementing AI services in public libraries in the future.
