Guro-gu to conduct night-time missing person drill for elderly with dementia

The Guro-gu Dementia Care Center has announced that it will conduct a mock drill for the ‘G-Bro Project’ on October 28 near Gungdong Ecological Park. The exercise is designed to prepare for nighttime disappearance scenarios involving elderly citizens with dementia.

The drill aims to test the response systems between various community agencies to ensure rapid searches and safe returns. The project involves a collaborative network of police, autonomous crime prevention units, schools, and local residents. Participants will use actors to simulate real-life disappearance scenarios, testing the entire process from the initial report to search, discovery, and police coordination.

This initiative follows a recent youth-led training session held on October 8 at Wooshin Middle School, where students participated in dementia awareness and response education. Guro-gu officials stated that the goal is to strengthen the community safety net through multi-generational involvement and close cooperation between public and private sectors.
