Gurugram police charge driver after viral hit-and-run video

Police in Gurugram, India, have detained a man following a viral video showing a car striking a female motorcyclist, Shivani Chauhan. The footage, captured by a camera mounted on Chauhan’s motorcycle, shows a white car colliding with her before fleeing the scene.

Chauhan has accused the driver of following her and intentionally steering into her motorcycle. The driver, identified as Kalyan Bainsla, denies the allegation of intent, claiming he lost control while attempting to avoid the group of motorcyclists who he says had been provoking his vehicle. Bainsla also stated he fled the scene due to fear of being attacked by the group.

While initially investigated for reckless driving and endangering public safety, authorities have since added an attempted murder charge against Bainsla. The incident has drawn significant public attention following its spread on social media.
