Kargil War veteran assaulted in Gurugram parking dispute

Retired Indian Air Force Group Captain Amit Kumar Gupta, a veteran of the 1999 Kargil War ‘Operation Safed Sagar’, was allegedly assaulted with an iron rod during a parking dispute in Gurugram.

The incident occurred on September 10 at Magnum Global Park near the Gonzo Restaurant. According to the victim, an altercation began after parking staff repeatedly directed him to different parking areas before refusing to let him park. The situation escalated when a parking attendant allegedly attempted to damage his vehicle's windshield. When Gupta exited his car to protest, the attendant reportedly struck him twice with an iron rod—once on the hand and once on the head.

Gupta sustained serious injuries, including a head wound and a fractured elbow, which required surgery at Medanta Hospital to fix the bone with a plate. The victim has raised concerns regarding the response of local authorities, claiming that police did not arrive for approximately thirty minutes after he called the helpline and alleging that the hospital's medical-legal report did not accurately reflect his injuries.

Gurugram police have registered an FIR and are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify and take action against the accused individuals involved in the assault.
