Guruvayur Temple hosts Uthradam festivities and Kaazhchakula offerings

Devotees gathered at the Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple in Thrissur to observe Uthradam festivities as part of the Onam celebrations. A central ritual involved the offering of Kaazhchakula, or plantain bunches, to the deity Sree Guruvayurappan.

Devaswom Minister K. Muraleedharan participated in the traditional ceremony alongside temple officials, including the chief priest and various administrators. Muraleedharan described the opportunity to participate in the offering as a significant personal blessing.

The plantains offered during the ceremony will be used to prepare Pazham Pradhaman, a traditional payasam for the Thiruvonam feast. Temple authorities noted that any remaining plantains after meeting ritual requirements will be auctioned to devotees.
