South Australia offers $1 million reward in Gus Lamont disappearance case

South Australian authorities have announced a record $1 million reward for information leading to the recovery of Gus Lamont or a criminal conviction in his disappearance. The reward, matching the highest ever issued in the state, comes as the investigation approaches the one-year anniversary of the four-year-old boy vanishing from Oak Park Station near Yunta.

Gus was last seen on September 27 near his grandparents' remote sheep station. Despite extensive searches involving the Australian Defence Force, drones, and AI analysis, no trace of the child has been found. The case was declared a Major Crime in February, with investigators stating they believe the boy is no longer alive.

Police have identified a suspect residing at the station, noting that the individual is not one of Gus’s parents. One of the boy's grandparents remains a person of interest in the investigation. Meanwhile, Gus’s parents, Josh Lamont and Jess Murray, have issued an emotional plea for answers, describing the ongoing uncertainty as devastating.
