Gus Rozin reappointed to lead Majelis Masyayikh for 2026-2031 term
KH Abdul Ghaffar Rozin, also known as Gus Rozin, has been reappointed as the Chairman of the Majelis Masyayikh for the 2026-2031 term. During his second leadership period, he plans to implement strategic programs focused on strengthening quality assurance systems for pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) and establishing recognition for graduate competencies.
Gus Rozin stated that the recognition program aims to provide formal academic equivalence for highly skilled pesantren graduates, including those without formal schooling. These individuals could potentially receive recognition equivalent to Master’s (S2) or Doctoral (S3) levels, allowing them to teach at those academic tiers. He emphasized that quality assessment for pesantren must use qualitative methods tailored to their specific traditions, such as measuring proficiency in specific religious sciences, rather than applying standardized formal education metrics.
Additionally, KH Sofwan Manaf of Darunnajah Jakarta has been inaugurated as one of the 15 members of the Majelis Masyayikh for the same term by the Minister of Religious Affairs. The council operates as an independent body representing pesantren, tasked with ensuring quality across education, preaching, and community empowerment functions.
