Gustav Gellerbrant takes leave following reports of partner's Russian ties

Gustav Gellerbrant, the head of the coordination office for the Sweden Democrats (SD), has announced an immediate parental leave and will surrender his access card and computer to the Government Offices. This decision follows reports by the magazine Expo alleging that Gellerbrant’s partner has historically shared content containing Russian state narratives, propaganda from outlets like RT, and praise for Vladimir Putin.

Gellerbrant has dismissed the allegations as “detached information” intended to cast doubt on his family’s loyalty and his own role within the Government Offices. He characterized the social media posts as being presented without context, suggesting they were intended as “obvious sarcasm and irony.” Gellerbrant maintained that he has been transparent throughout his security clearance process and noted that his partner has expressed strong opposition to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
