Gustav Gullholm's Scott Spark RC SL Breaks 9‑kg Barrier

Swedish bike builder Gustav Gullholm, known as Dangerholm, has unveiled a new version of the Scott Spark RC SL that weighs just 8.99 kg (8 987.8 g). The bike uses a carbon‑fiber HMX‑SL frame, a RockShox Flight Attendant electronic fork, a dropper seatpost, a power meter and a suite of lightweight components selected to keep the weight under the 9‑kg target while preserving stiffness, durability and ride quality.

The project marks a decade since Gullholm first built a 7.33 kg Spark, and the latest build retains 120 mm of rear travel and a polished carbon finish achieved through a five‑day hand‑polishing process. All components were chosen for a balance of lightness and reliability, making the bike ready for World Cup‑level cross‑country competition without compromising performance or maintenance ease.
