Gustav Klimt exhibition to open at Casa Darvas-La Roche in Oradea

The Casa Darvas-La Roche in Oradea will host an exhibition titled ‘Gustav Klimt and Künstler-Compagnie at Peleș’ from September 2 to September 30, 2026. The exhibition focuses on the early works of the renowned Austrian painter, created between 1883 and 1886.

During this period, Klimt worked alongside his brother Ernst Klimt and Franz Matsch as part of the ‘Künstler-Compagnie’ collective to decorate Peleș Castle. Because some original works are too fragile for transport or located in restricted areas, the exhibition will feature large-scale images accompanied by detailed explanations regarding their role in Klimt’s artistic evolution.

Curator Dr. Antonela Corban noted that these works provide a vital link to understanding Klimt’s career before he achieved international fame. The project is based on extensive research and the 2024 publication ‘Gustav Klimt and Künstler-Compagnie at Peleș’.
