Dominican Republic police arrest suspect in Serrallés stabbing

Dominican authorities have arrested Johnny González, 41, in connection with the stabbing of 23-year-old Gustavo Adolfo III Mejía-Ricart Risk in the Serrallés sector of the Distrito Nacional. The attack occurred early Saturday morning when the victim was pursued by a motorcyclist into his building's lobby.

Police tracked the suspect through security cameras to the Capotillo sector. During a search of his residence, officers seized the knife allegedly used in the attack, the clothing the suspect was wearing, the motorcycle used in the crime, and two license plates. González, who reportedly has eight prior criminal records including robbery and drug trafficking, faces potential charges of attempted homicide.

The victim remains in intensive care following surgery. His mother, Katherine Risk, has appealed for public prayers for his recovery. President Luis Abinader confirmed the arrest and emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening citizen security.
