Gustavo Baquero leaves Harbour Energy to rebuild Venezuela's energy sector
Oil and gas executive Gustavo Baquero has announced his departure from Harbour Energy to focus entirely on the reconstruction of Venezuela’s energy sector.
Baquero brings over 25 years of international experience to this endeavor, having held significant roles at major companies including ExxonMobil, Repsol, bp, Equinor, and Harbour Energy. His career has spanned eight countries, with professional experience in Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, Colombia, Brazil, Norway, and Mexico.
In a statement shared on X, Baquero emphasized that rebuilding an energy sector requires more than just a slogan; it demands technical rigor, capital discipline, institutional trust, and the collective talent of Venezuelan professionals. He noted that his decision to dedicate himself to Venezuela’s recovery has been maturing for some time and called for the participation of investors, service companies, and multilateral organizations.
