Gustavo do Canto and Matilde Santos place 12th at European Triathlon Cup

Portuguese under-23 triathletes Gustavo do Canto and Matilde Santos secured 12th place finishes in their respective elite categories at the European Triathlon Cup held in Coimbra.

In the men's race, France achieved a dominant sweep of the top four positions. Maxime Hueber-Moosbrugger took first place with a time of 51:37, followed by teammates Adam Fouchal, Achille Besson, and Baptiste Passemard. Gustavo do Canto finished 36 seconds behind the winner with a time of 52:12. Other notable Portuguese performances included João Vaz in 13th, Afonso Ferreira in 19th, and Tomás Figueiredo in 20th.

In the women's race, American Annie Fuller claimed victory with a time of 57:56. The podium was completed by French athletes Manon Laporte in second and Candice Denizot in third. Matilde Santos finished 12th with a time of 59:40, while Inês Rico was the next Portuguese athlete to finish, placing 25th.

The sprint distance competition consisted of 750 meters of swimming in the Mondego River, 20 kilometers of cycling, and 5 kilometers of running.
