Gustavo Dudamel concludes LA Phil tenure before joining New York Philharmonic
Gustavo Dudamel is concluding his 17-year tenure as conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. His farewell was marked by a large-scale benefit concert for Venezuela, following recent earthquakes in the country that resulted in more than 6,500 deaths. The event featured various musical guests, including Chris Martin of Coldplay, Carlos Vives, and Beck.
Dudamel is set to officially assume his new role as the music and artistic director of the New York Philharmonic in September. To mark this transition, the New York Philharmonic will embark on a European tour beginning October 9. The tour will include performances at the Philharmonie de Paris, the Musikverein in Vienna, and several concerts in Spain, specifically in Barcelona and Madrid.
