Gustavo Fermani appointed as Barcelona SC sporting director

Argentine executive Gustavo Fermani has been named the new sporting director for Ecuador's Barcelona SC. He will be joined by Amílcar Bona, who will serve as the club's new technical secretary. The duo previously worked together at Atlético Nacional in Colombia.

Fermani arrives in Guayaquil following a successful tenure at Atlético Nacional, where he managed between 2024 and 2026. During his time there, the club secured four titles, including two Copa Colombia trophies, one league title, and one Superliga. His management was also noted for promoting 13 players from youth divisions to the professional squad.

Fermani's professional background includes extensive experience in youth development and sports coordination at River Plate, Racing de Montevideo, and various roles in Argentina, Uruguay, and Colombia. He is expected to lead the sporting project and squad planning for Barcelona SC following the departure of Andrés Altamar.
